The Background of Casino Craps

[ English ]

The background of Craps dates back to a dice game called Hazard, which goes back to Bernard de Mandeville in New Orleans in 1813. Hazard is believed to be a byproduct of Azzahr, meaning ‘the die’ a game enjoyed by Arabs.

The game evolved as it traveled from the Arab countries to France and then to England. By the early eighteenth century, formal established rules for Hazard had been developed. France adopted the British version of Hazard and is thought to have been imported to the us by early French settlers. In the mid-18th century, when the English beat the French in Canada, the French colonizers moved to Louisiana. Dice were enjoyed on river boats, clubs and wharfs and a modernized ‘American’ style of Craps was created. The game moved west and is a favoured game that is played all over the United States and throughout the world.

The name ‘Craps’ is considered to be a French expression of the phrase crabs, which alludes to two ‘1s’. There are two basic forms of Craps that are gambled on-street Craps and casino Craps. Street caps, accurately called because it’s bet on the streets is where a tosser establishes a point and then attempts to roll that point. The wagering is made either with or opposed to the tosser and someone must cover the bet for the game to continue.

In bank Craps, which is the common game, competed in in casinos, the casino backs the casino game. The participants wager with the house-the casino covers all of the wagers of all of the individuals. Craps was a very well-liked game but in the past 20 years had divided itself and different games, like poker and blackjack became more well-loved. However, Craps is observing a surge in fame once again in net betting houses and in real world betting houses.
